The race with Boo can be fun too, though it's unfortunate that the 2-player Mario vs Luigi mode can't be played as it's actually pretty fun. The value here isn't SMB1, it's the new challenges. That said, the real draw here is the challenge stages and those are a lot of fun. Though, this version lacks the final five worlds of SMB2j, so, most of the tough levels aren't even in it. Some of those levels have larger jumps where you won't be able to see where the land is on the other side, which can be a problem if you haven't played those levels before. Though even with that, I don't think it's much of an issue in the normal SMB levels, but rather becomes more of one in the SMB2j levels. The smaller screen size can be a hindrance for anyone new to the game or anyone who has completely forgotten it, but it isn't an issue for anyone familiar enough with the game who remembers level layouts and already knows what's lurking just out of view.
